It all began in January 1999. The Tanzanian insurance industry was liberalized and we decided to enter the market as insurance brokers. For 10 years, we were known as Milembe Insurance Consultants Limited: a company which brokered deals and facilitated transactions on behalf of insurers. During this time, we noticed a significant increase in the number of insurance businesses. We also noticed that the insurance industry was flourishing as the country enjoyed annual economic growth rates of 6% and substantial investments in critical development sectors.
Realizing that there was a fantastic opportunity for expansion, we decided to transform ourselves into Milembe Insurance Company Limited: a fully-fledged insurance company offering general insurance products in Tanzania. Since July 2009, we have been providing customers with unique insurance solutions to handle their extensive risks and opportunities.
