“Our annual HR event took place this Sunday – a time of reflection and strategizing (and fun!). 2019 has been a year of many triumphs, but also many lessons.
As someone who is always finding innovative ways to recruit and manage talent. I have learned that:
– Hire employees that are smarter than you: yes, I am serious!
– You never really get “ready-made employees”: endeavor to develop them.
– The better performers are usually the more difficult ones to manage; but, you have to make a choice if they are worth keeping at the expense of losing others on a team.
– Behavior and attitude towards one’s jobs are as important as one’s abilities.
– A sense of belonging to the organization is born out of creating a culture and value system that your employees are proud to identify with.
– Grow your employees into positions of responsibility and diversity; challenge them and give them opportunities to learn new things.
– Tell them how you feel: good or bad. Scold them, but love them too.
– You don’t always get an opportunity to do what you enjoy, so sometimes you have to enjoy what you do and make the most of it.
– In building ad maintaining your employer brand, you will have those who put you down, but hold your chin up high; not all stones thrown at you are worth catching. “
