“I am humbled to receive my formal appointment to serve on the board of The League of Friends Society in Kenya. My mandate will be to extend my expertise in the formation and delivery of partnerships that will increase awareness of the League’s work and create capacity for the League to help more community hospitals in Kenya. My immediate task will be to establish how the Leagues partnership with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) can be scaled. Now more than ever the partnership with KNH is critical to freeing up capacity at the hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. Across the world, League of Friends play an invaluable role in supporting local community hospitals through; volunteering, providing hospital services eg library service, fundraising for hospital equipment and staff training. League members are also the voice of the community as they are often called upon to represent the views that reflect those of the wider community. Partnering for Humanity in support of The UN SDG No.3, that seeks to promote good health and wellbeing. I look forward to working with the League of Friends KNH Board under the leadership of Nester Theuri and the medical team at Kenyatta Hospital in this deeply life-giving work. #partnerships #communityleadership #SDGs “
