SDB is one of the largest Roman Catholic religious’ congregations which operates collective, public and social benefit programmes for the poor, disadvantaged and abandoned children and youth across the world. OVC & Street Children
It is the obligation of The Don Bosco Networks Tanzania to meet and supports Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in reunification with their families and serve them with rehabilitation programmes.

RELIEF WORK
We have been engaging in relief work by distributing Clothes to the needy and constructing of wells for the people living in areas with the scarcity of pure and clean water.

Orphans
SMV has worked closely with Taqwa Orphan Trust to provide free screening and medical services to the orphans residing in orphanage centres. These monthly visits were done in collaboration with the trust whereby SMV provides free medical screening and services for the orphans, while Taqwa Orphan trust provides logistical support. So far we have reached more than 110 children. we provide some financial support to orphans, especially education support.

Muslim Scholars
SMV has conducted medical screening for Muslim scholars from Hay-atul ulamaa in Tanzania. SMV is working on a mechanism to provide medical coverage for members of Hay atul ulamaa. This scheme will help the Muslim scholars access free quality services to meet their health needs.
Blood Donation
In Tanzania, a shortage of blood is a common phenomenon and many patients lose their lives due to a lack of blood and blood products. In collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Program, SMV has complemented the government’s efforts in addressing the shortage of blood and blood products in the country.
Health Promotion
We organize and conduct health education programs on various diseases aiming at increasing community awareness of problems of public health importance in our country. This is done through open public talks, local radio and Television shows, newsletters, posters, and the internet in collaboration with both governmental and nongovernmental Associations.
Capacity Building
SMV has been providing technical assistance to various organizations in matters relating to health. For instance, some organizations were supported to establish health facilities; and also to manage health facilities.
UNESCO was established in order to promote international understanding and culture of peace among the International Community through education, science, social science, culture, communication and information.
The UNESCO National Commission was founded in 1962 to implement UNESCO programmes in the country in order to realize UNESCO goals and promote its ideals. Tanzania as a developing country is still grappling with several developmental challenges. It has developed its development strategy; vision 2025 and poverty reduction strategies for both mainland and Zanzibar that guide all social and economic development plans.
