What use does a trapdoor serve?
A trapdoor is a floor or ceiling door that slides or hinges. It is often compact in size. It was initially created to make it easier to hoist grain up through mills, but over time, its list of applications has expanded.
An example of a ceiling trap door, the trapdoor is a sliding or hinged door that is flush with the surface of a floor, roof, or ceiling, or in a theatre’s stage.
A hatch is a comparable opening that can also be in a wall and isn’t need to be flush with the surface.
